Bibliophilia A devotion to books and book collecting. Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792–1872) is an especially notable example of a bibliophile whose manuscript collection surpassed all other private hoards. His obsession bordered on bibliomania, and kept him constantly on the edge of bankruptcy.
